Au Pair Meeting for June!!
DATE: SATURDAY, JUNE 25th.
WHERE: SILVERLAKE DOG PARK
WHAT: BRING YOUR PET AND HANG FOR A LITTLE CANINE SOCIAL NETWORKING.
If you have a dog, this is the place to be! Bring your family pooch if it’s social, and let him/her make new friends while you do the same.
If you don’t already know, Silverlake is a central location to our group, and it’s a great place to meet 20-year-olds, as there are lots of shops and clubs and cafes that cater to the artistic young innovators of Los Angeles here.
Technically the “lake” is a reservoir and you don’t swim in it, but many folks walk around the lake, which is a 3.5 mile walk.
For dogs that are social, the dog park is great! There is a small dog section and a large dog section. (You know where I will be! )
For people, it’s a great way to make new friends, as while the dogs check each other out, it’s easy to say hi to dog owners, and socialize. You can ask the locals where to find good places to eat in the neighborhood; The Vista movie theater is nearby, and it is one of the great vintage movie houses in LA, with a giant screen! There are also a couple of awesome coffee places within walking distance of the dog park. (LA Mill and Cafe Tropical)
Normally, the dog park is more lively in the morning, but I know many of you have to work in the morning, so I thought the afternoon would be easier.
As experienced “locals” I will warn you: Parking is a pain. (Nothing new in that, right?) The signs are not as confusing as they are in Hollywood, but please give yourself a few extra minutes to park your car.
Make plans now with your host family to take your pet! Even if you don’t have a pet, it will be fun. (I hope you trust me by now on that!)
